Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, emphasized the UAE’s strategic vision and approach towards human development in a board meeting of the UAE Olympic Committee. He highlighted the importance of integrating the core principles of the Olympic Movement into everyday life, aligning national priorities with these objectives. This meeting, held at the Committee’s headquarters in Dubai, was attended by key officials including Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sport.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Board resolved to rename the National Olympic Committee as the UAE Olympic Committee, aligning it with international practices. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor congratulated the UAE delegation for their outstanding performance at the 3rd GCC Beach Games in Muscat, where they secured a record 23 medals, marking a historic achievement for the nation.
The Board also reviewed upcoming participations in major sporting events, such as the World Games in Chen
gdu and the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Bahrain. Discussions included organizing a workshop on the IOC Olympic Charter’s recent amendments, which are significant for the global Olympic Movement.
Additionally, the Board evaluated plans for a Sports Law and Governance Conference, upcoming sports delegations, and potential hosting bids, including SportAccord 2027. The launch of an electronic platform for sports participation was also reviewed, aiming to drive digital transformation in the sports sector.
Strategic planning was a focal point, with the approval of the Olympic Planning Committee’s objectives. These include enhancing sports governance, leadership, and athlete empowerment. The Board also endorsed recommendations on marketing and financial resources.
The meeting concluded with the approval of the ‘Best Member Federation Award,’ set to acknowledge federations based on criteria such as sporting achievements, innovation, and sustainability. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor ended the session with a commemorative photog
