Abu Dhabi: Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club emerged victorious at the third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship – Gi Kids, which concluded at Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club secured second place, while Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club finished in third position.
According to Emirates News Agency, the final day of the event witnessed strong support from families and jiu-jitsu fans who gathered to cheer for the young athletes, contributing to an energetic atmosphere. This support reinforced community ties and established the championship as a significant platform for social and cultural engagement.
The event drew several dignitaries who attended the competitions and crowned the winners. Among them were Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Other notable attendees included Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and Salem Saeed Al Saeedi, Vice President of Rabdan Academy, alongside various officials and sports enthusiasts.
Yousef Abdullah Al Batran highlighted that the championship reflects the vision of leadership in supporting sports and empowering future generations. He stated that the leadership’s support for jiu-jitsu underscores its belief in the sport’s role in promoting physical and mental well-being and instilling noble values.
Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan commended the high level of organization and participation, noting the growing popularity of jiu-jitsu in the UAE. He emphasized its benefits in instilling values such as discipline, determination, and resilience among athletes.
Zayed Dorazahi of UAEJJ ARENA, who secured a gold medal in the Kids Boys / Kids 3 / White / 24kg – H division, expressed his joy at winning. He credited his success to hard training with his coach and teammates and thanked his family for their encouragement.
The championship continues its successful run, with the fourth round scheduled for June, reflecting the sport’s increasing prominence in the local sporting landscape.
